Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai passed away on the 18th of Iyar. The Zohar, the primary source text of Kabbalah, is built around Rabbi Shimon's revelations to his inner circle of disciples. During the hours before his passing, on Lag b'Omer, he disclosed the "most sublime" secrets of Torah in order to ensure that this day would always be an occasion for great joy for everyone.

Rabbi Benayahu ben Yehoyada lived in the time of King David and was considered both the most brilliant warrior of his day as well a brilliant Torah scholar. He was King David’s chief counsel.

Passed away (yartzeit) on the 12th of Kislev. Rabbi Avraham Dov of Avritch was a disciple of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev. His famous book of Chasidic commentary, Bat Ayin, was written in Europe, but he refused to allow it to be printed until he could 'expose' it to the air of the Holy Land.

The Kotel (The Wailing Wall) - people from around the world come here to pray.  Notes of prayers and requests written to G-d are placed between the ancient stones of the Wall.  "The Divine Presence has never moved away from the Western Wall”.

The Kotel - God placed His Presence upon the Western Wall where it remains in its holiness and honor”.
King David - King David was a supremely righteous person and author of most of the book of T'hillim (Psalms). The final Redeemer will be a descendant of King David.

Passing - the 15th of Mar-Cheshvan 1836. Rabbi Leib "Baal Ha'yissurin" -- was an outstanding scholar and G-d-fearing man, a major disciple of Rabbi Shneur Zalman, the first Rebbe of Chabad. When his end was near, he let it be known that anyone who found himself beset by insoluble problems (G-d forbid) should visit his grave. To this day there are many who who visit his grave in Safed hoping to benefit from his assistance in their prayers, especially on Fridays.
