Passing - the 15th of Mar-Cheshvan 1836. Rabbi Leib "Baal Ha'yissurin" -- was an outstanding scholar and G-d-fearing man, a major disciple of Rabbi Shneur Zalman, the first Rebbe of Chabad. When his end was near, he let it be known that anyone who found himself beset by insoluble problems (G-d forbid) should visit his grave. To this day there are many who who visit his grave in Safed hoping to benefit from his assistance in their prayers, especially on Fridays.

Passed away (yartzeit) on the 12th of Kislev. Rabbi Avraham Dov of Avritch was a disciple of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev. His famous book of Chasidic commentary, Bat Ayin, was written in Europe, but he refused to allow it to be printed until he could 'expose' it to the air of the Holy Land.

Passed away on the 14th of Iyar. One Sage, Rabbi Yehuda bar Ilai, who lived in the time of the Nasi (prince) Rabbi Shimon ben Gamliel, lived in dire poverty but his Torah learning sufficed to nourish him, even to the extent that he glowed with happiness and good health.
