Send a Prayer to the grave of R' Benayahu ben Yehoyada

Rabbi Benayahu ben Yehoyada lived in the time of King David and was considered both the most brilliant warrior of his day as well a brilliant Torah scholar. He was King David’s chief counsel and also became the leader of the highest Torah law body, the Sanhedrin. His grave site was revealed in the 17th century by the Holy Arizal, who was able to sense the presence of great souls and revealed many grave sites in the Galilee. Rabbi Benayahu is believed to have been one of the 36 righteous men found in every generation in whose merit the very world exists. He was known as "The Ben Ish Chai."

This name "The Ben Ish Chai" was later used by R' Yosef Chaim of Bagdad (who considered himself to be a reincarnation of Rabbi Benayahu) for his book of commentaries on the Five Books of Moses. As often happens, he himself was known since then by the name of this book. The Ben Ish Chai of Bagdad passed away on the 13th of Elul, 1907, and is buried in Baghdad. Many people come to pray at the grave of Rabbi Benayahu ben Yehoyada on the day of the passing of R' Yosef Chaim of Bagdad since the two souls were so closely connected.
